after seeing how tall devon hall is

  • Im not worried about getting a top 2013 point guard and that scaring devon away. I can see him being a point forward for uva. He is all of 6'5 and not skinny. If he grow a couple inches than watch out. I also see BJ stith being an off guard for us with the ability to be a point forward. I dont see Brandon stith being a Hoo. He is not a low post forward and a borderline ACC smalll forward. Even if he does wait for 2014. I also think if uva start getting these top 50 players Bennett have to play more than 8 players and speed the game up some. In 2013 i see this as our starting five and rotation players. 2013 point guard, malcolm, mike, anthony and joe. On the bench justin, evan, darion, akil, teven, taylor and paul with the possibility of matt thomas. That a lot of talent oon the bench and i dont see how we can only play 3 of those guys. Maybe press some so guys get tired faster and we have to substitute or push the ball more so guys get tired faster but as our talent get better we definetly have to play them or we always have a revolving door. Out of those players i see paul teven and the possibility of akil being effected. Unless a drastic improvement i see paul leaving the program. I dont see where he get time. Im nervous the staff is after a point guard so hard with teven being on the team. Maybe he not showing them what they need to see. And akil just not a starter on this level and i pray mike tobey, darion atkins and evan nolte take his minutes. So here you go guys what do your think

  • I too hope we move to a more flexable tempo and get more players involved. I believe we will as we continue to compile the players coach can turn loose without them beating theirselves. One of the promary reasons I love Bennett is his emphasis on balance and valuing possesion (which so many see as robotic or slow) ( I see it as a launching point for players to realy shine indavidualy without compromising team). fwiw.

  • One other thing. If justin and evan as good as advertised i see them not starting also being a problem. Who place do they take malcolm, joe or anthony. I cant wait to see how bennett handle having so much talent. Which bring me to my other problem. Why do we need taylor barnett. He cant get his own shot and if he is a good shooter who minutes will he take. He not a point guard and we hopin matt thomas join the program. This is one problem i have with bennett and i absolutely love bennett. He over recruit the same position especially wing players. He definetley earn his new contract money if he can keep this team together.

  • Barnett looks like a player who can create some imo fwiw, next level maybe not. I realy want Hall and Thomas badly but we deffinately could use a pg and another 7 footer always.

  • Pierce in 2014 where will all these wing players play. We will have malcolm, paul, justin, taylor, matt, BJ and devon. This is not including evan. I just font understand bennett thinking unless he forcing players out by over recruiting. Bryant stith has money so why dont he pay for brandon his first yr as a walkon if brandon love uva so much. Than his sophomore year he get a scholarship.

I am not nervous about the Teven in terms of pushing for a PG because we will only have 1 true point when Evans graduates (Brogdon can play point but I think everyone would be comfortable with another true point). I think Bennett doesn't want to be left short-handed at point in 2013.

I think Evan will be looked like more as a Turbo Sherrill a face and space 4. I think theres plenty run for 8 or 9 but I think some others may have to show that patience and wait for that opportunity to step in when a injury, transfer or graduation happens. Really I believe how deep the rotation goes and the ammount of tempo freedom will be up to who shows they can get fast but stay smart and compete. I would suspect there is hedging aginst attrittion and with the current trends I think its smart. I also think several of these guys show enough completeness to play the 1-3 so there will be alot of combination possibilities and matchup options. Overall I'm extremely pleased with the way coach has reloaded and with the multitude of options maybe we'll find some legit scorers.

  • Tugard,
Thanks for the post. Good to see you post.
Managing pt will be a good problem to have, but difficult to see guys transfer, but

  • tugard barnette can get his own shot. he is like stoglin from maryland.

    mogreen2333

  • Wow mo. I will hold u to this comparison. If you are right, that would be one of the greatest evaluation in message board history. I did not read anything or seen anything that show Barnette is a player that can not only get his own shot but can handle the ball and get to the rim. Good call MO but u might have did a Pierce. Just playing Pierce LOL

  • You are nervous about the staff going for pg with teven on team? Wat????

  • I guess im saying is we are looking for a top notch point guard before our present point guard has played a minute. It tells me he is not the answer and we need somebody to come in and start right away. If that wasnt the case why risk losing devon hall if teven could handle the the job. By us bringing in a top 2013 point guard we risk losing devon hall. Now of course none of this is confirmed but suspect we wouldnt be going after five star point guards if our current point guard was a quality starter type of player. Yes if teven get hurt we would need a backup but two things. The kids uva is recruiting are not backups and if teven is injured we have malcolm, taylor and hopefully justin miller to fill in. See wht im sayin now fam.

If we get Thomas, we may not need a point. He looks like a lead guard. He sure looks like he has real handle from his videos. Also, his coach said he was one of best ball handlers in the midwest.
