What seed would you prefer?

  • I know most people want to get the highest seed possible, but I don't see us getting any higher than an 8. To me 8/9 seed is probably the worst to have. If you do win that game, you then have to face a 1 seed. You're likely done after one win. A 10 seed to me would be a little better. A 7 seed is definitely beatable, then would face a 2 seed, which is just as hard as beating a 1 seed. The 11 seed is the seed to be imo. Play a beatable 6 seed then play a 3 seed. In the past, 11 seeds have done pretty well in tournamnets and I feel like this would be a good seeding for our type of team. I don't see us being anything lower than an 11 seed either.

I'm very anxious to see what seed we get and who is in our region, because if the cards fall right, even though we are backing into the tournament, this team can still make a run. Seeding though will have a huge impact on that and I was just wondering what other people thought of it as well.

  • I think we will get an 10-seed. Believe our last 12 or 13 game record hurts our case for anything higher.

  • I'd take a 16 seed. As long as we're in the Big Dance!

But to answer the question, I'm personally hoping for an 11 seed tomorrow. I agree, the 6-then-3 road is much less daunting than the 7-then-2 or 8-then-1. Plus, a lot of the teams projected as 6-seeds are teams I think we could expose and beat. Murray State immediately springs to mind.

  • From the various website predictions this morning, most have UVa as a 10 or 11 seed. Some of the predicted match ups were with either Cincy or San Diego State.

  • I would even take a 12 seed. a lot of 12's have beaten 5's over the years. then playing a 4 seed in second round would be winnable. We have not been to the Sweet Sixteen since 1995 ( I think that is correct), so a 12 seed could be our way in.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a 12 either, I just don't see us being that low of a seed. I think 11 is the lowest we go.

I just don't want this team to have to play in the play in game scenario some how. I know the odds of that are slim, but this is our luck we're talking about here.

Even that's not the end of the world. VCU used the First Four as a springboard to the Final Four. Not saying we can duplicate that feat, but you have to be confident in our team/system/coach in winning in Dayton and taking our rightful place at the table.
