So, hear me out...I actually think green is pretty damn good on offense. Its hard for me to give a VT kid credit, but Eric can fill it up. My problem is, he is simply NOT a good teammate. He plays zero defense, his ability to get assists is almost nonexistent, and he flat out shoots the ball to damn much. He would help us on those moments where we have trouble scoring (which happens more often than it should), but we would not be in first place with him on our team. He can score, and that's it. He doesn't make his teammates better on O, and plays no D. So, we agree that the kid can score, but he would have no place in our lineup. his net contribution to the team would be a negative, and Tony wouldn't stand for it. Hell, he's Brogdon minus the defense.

he's better than malcolm and i think malcolm is our best player. i don't have antipathy to tech. i try to be objective. i think he will be in the nba.

I think that Green is a better scorer than Malcolm, but that's it. He is not a better all-around player, IMO, and that's what I was trying to say. Malcolm Brogdon, in less than 1 full year of basketball at UVA averaged 6.7 pts/game as a true freshman. Erick Green as a freshman, on a team that shot way more than UVA did, averaged 2.6 pts/game. His 2nd year, he averaged 11.6. You don't think that it's realistic that Brogdon could average 11 or 12 a game, on THIS team? Yes, Erick Green can score, on a team where he is the primary & the secondary, & the tertiary scoring option. The guy has already shot the damn ball 296 times this year, BY HIMSELF! He's not a good defender, he's averaging 4.2 assists which is good, but he's turning the ball over 2.44 times per game. So, he is a starting Point Guard, and his Assist/TO ratio is basically 2:1. That's not very good for an ACC Point Guard.

Erick Green can shoot the rock, and is a very good scorer. But, to what extent does his relentless ball-hawking damage his team, and it's ability to win games? And, that's only on the offensive side, he is not a good defender either. So, on my Tony Bennet led UVA teams, I would much rather have Brogdon, as opposed to Green. If healthy, when Malcolm comes back, will be our 2nd best defender (Anderson?), and most likely our 2nd leading scorer behind Joey Hoops. IMHO, Erick Green is not as good, or complete a Guard as some of the other guys they have had (Dowdell, Vasallo), and those guys didn't have NBA careers. Time will tell, and I know the NBA favors guys that can score, but he's definitely not better than Singletary, and he really hadn't had much of an NBA career either.

i love brogdon too. i think he has the most talent of all our players. if he were playing this year we might be a top 20 team. but this kid greene is a heck of a player. and i don't view him as a point guard. he is a scorer and very good at it. otherwise i'm all with you regarding malcolm.
