    They were. We went on a nice run over the last two weeks. VTScoop went a similarly good run. Wahoos247 has passed two SEC sites in the last two weeks though. Kick rocks, SEC.

  • Jamie this is why we get a bad rap as fans and supporting our teams. This is why our spring game attendance suck. This is y the lower bowl seats at the basketball games are empty. We suck as fans. And i said we. Most fans too busy correcting grammer on message boards and walkin around like thy own the world becuse thy went to uva instead of supporting our base. People say once we win the crowd will come. I dnt believe it. So jamie u will b behind the va tech people and their site always but trust me it not because of your effort and content. I will even cancel my subscription to their site. I just love going head to head with them but this is more imp.

    While I agree with plenty in your statement Tugs, I do not agree with the "once we win" part.

    When we win, UVa fans come out in big numbers. There will still be a ton of hand sitters in the crowd...but they do come out. If recruiting continues and the wins follow, Scott will be packed again soon.

    In all fairness to UVA though, they have a relatively small alumni base, which is relied on unless a team wins consistently and at a high level. So in the lean times like we have had in our major sports for the last decade (for the most part) the numbers will be down. Now the flip side is that UVA has a very wealthy alumni base and thus fan base in general, which is why all of our sports programs are fully funded. With such a small alumni base, it is even more important to attract fans that are not alumni, and that usually comes from surrounding areas. Unfortunately without winning the major population centers in VA have gravitated towards VT, mostly because of football. It may take 10 years to swing the balance, but you can't fault non-alumni fans for not wanting to support a team that consistently wins. All I can say to non-alumni is to tell your friends and family to start rooting for UVA and it's quality programs, instead of those turkeys to the southwest!

    Lol 4 sure, kick rocks SEC. I'm afraid we're outnumbered though, glad to hear we keep up. They can have all the numbers they wnt, they are going down on the field this fall, GO HOOs !!

    Its numbers, they have a larger Alum base. Larger isn't always better but I agree we could be more aggressive in our support.

At last year's convention, Wahoos247 was the fifth largest in net new sales and the 17th overall in size out of what was then, 32 sites. It's now in the Top-15 and pushing to get into the Top-10.

    And this is no small feat. UVa has a small fanbase in comparison to most of the schools that have 247 sites. Most FBS schools crank out twice the number of grads as UVa does annually. Plus, UVa really hasn't been consistently good nearly a decade, so we lack the bandwagon fans and fan excitement that grace many other schools' fanbases.

  • I agree with others, I do believe wins will equal more attention. Some fair weather fans are a little jaded with the ups and downs. Once the kicking-ass starts next year, it will be over crowded. Although that could be a scary thing too.
