Spring Game attendance...

  • Due to prom festivities, I was unable to watch or attend the spring game. For those of you who watched or went, what was attendance like? Did you notice an increase? Decrease? Or about the same as last year?

And if the attendance was still disappointingly low, what do you think we need to do to get that number to rise? Is it a matter of advertising or is it just about winning more games?

  • I think the "official" numbers were about 8,250but there might have been some more there as others said it didn't seem like the attendants were counting when they got in. Do yourself a favor and watch the replay on ESPN online. It was a lot of fun, one of the best spring games we have had. The attendance looks sparse, though, because almost everyone is sitting on the west side in the shade.

  • Attendance was the best in years. offically stated as 8,000 but there was at least that. Most likely somewhat over and on such a beautiful day it was just awesome. Super day really!!

  • I overheard players and staff members commenting it was the best attendance they've seen at a spring game

  • I talked to many UVA fans, including recently graduated alumni in the weeks before the spring game and told them all I was going. All but one that I can remember asked who we were playing in the spring game. So take that for what it means to you but it shows me most people dont have any idea about it.

  • Best I have ever seen and at the game we were grumbling that anyone watching ESPN3 would probably think otherwise since the majority of fans were on the West side (where the cameras were). Maybe we can splurge for another cameraman next year and send him to the East stands.

  • The lower west side was pretty packed between the end zones, almost all of the way up. It is always going to be like that for the shade. Of course you saw the people spread out on the hill and throughout the east side side as well. If the baseball game would have been a 6 or 7PM start I think it would have been an extremely impressive showing for us.

Obviously Tim Harris saw all he needed to see!

    I must break you!

  • One other thing I noticed and forgot to mention was the presence of President Sullivan. She actually looked like she knew what was going on and having a good time. Great to see the support from the upper administration.

  • I was just foolin around doind a count on the east side and there was over 2000 on that side so I know we did really really well. I been at a lot of them (missed very few actually) and that was the best I've seen in a very long time, if not ever. And the play was awesome. Exciting stuff.....

Therein lies the problem. That person probably had 1500 SAT's and does not have one lick of common sense.

Multiple people had asked who we were playing though, and yes that night that recent graduate got extemely drunk challenged a truck full of rednecks to a fight and made the girl he was there to see cry. So yes not the smartest dude around. He also snored as he slept on the living room floor of the girls apartment and annoyed all of us all night.

Hahaha no no I was an attendee. I'm still a senior in high school. Prom was a lot of fun but it wasn't the best night of my life, like ever girl makes it out to be... Although I did bring the house down with a thud!
