  • I'm not going to read the thread so if I'm repeating someone else, skip it, but there is an ignore user button. It is the circle with the line through it to the right of the avatar. If you don't care to read vpi fan posts, just hit that and all their posts will be hidden. It's pretty easy and simple solution for you to be hokie free on this board.

    But let's be clear, this is a UVa-centric site. My loyalty is to those that subscribe to this site. Keeping one or two problems doesn't help if it means losing 30.

    I can have the national office make the change to only subscribers of this site being able to post.

    NO. I feel dirty defending Hokie posters against UVA ones, but let's be clear - any issues there are, at least half of them come from UVA folks reflexively going "crawl back to your cave" and just being jerks without any further thought. The semi-open nature of the boards lets us see who's being real and who isn't. If the Hokie site shuts down access, then I say do so as well, I wouldn't want to see it be one-way in either direction, but the existence of Hokie posters doesn't bother me. Shutting it down to subscribers-only is a copout IMO.

    I like having your opinion over here. You seem to be an intelligent poster and not trying to harass. I would like to say to the members
    of this board that relying on JO to take care of you is asking to much IMO. I feel sure that most all of us can take care of ourselves and
    know when to cut the discussion off or how to cut it off with the wrong type individual. JO can jump in at his discretion and put an end
    to the situation when he sees fit. Just an opinion................

  • I would recommend one of two options:

    1) monitor this board the way CW did on Rivals. I was no huge fan of his (though he did know his hoops), but his zero tolerance policy on that site was a thing of beauty. Hokie fans were not created equal with UVa fans - ie they had to turn the other cheek, we didn't. We were allowed to reach 8 on a scale of 10 in terms of aggression, they were allowed a 3 or 4. That eventually drove off most Hokie posters, even the ones that played nice most of the time so that thaty could flame some of the time. Wallace's utter disdain for the tech minions was an added bonus - you could work on your game in that regard Jamie, though it is not required.

    2) ban them altogether by making this a members only site. The sh*t I had to endure the last three hokie games at Scott was so putrid, if I never have to share a square on this earth with another one of those simpletons I would be happy.

    I've not asked UVa fans to turn the other cheek and will not. This is a UVa board and problems are eliminated.

    I'm on this board day and night and honestly, with the exception of two posters yesterday (which were dealt with), I haven't seen this rampant infestation of flaming trolls of the Virginia Tech variety.

    Should we start the process of a vote of no confidence in my ability to properly maintain the board? cool
