Well maybe I'm not making myself clear enough here. I don't see why we have to play nice with Hokies on this board when I have never been to one of their boards to post a thing. Not once. I have read other threads to get their viewpoint to balance mine a few times, and have seen how others get treated on their message boards and its not pretty.

There is a general hostility and inferiority complex that every Hokie holds towards Hoos in my experience and I'm tired of being nice about it. We let them come in to our place and are courteous and get flack about it, we allow them to come on our message boards and are expected to do the same.

I really have not seen much "trolling" going on over here by VT posters. But I also do not flip through every thread that pops up on this site. I just post in ones that get my attention and I would like to have a "conversation" in.

I do not come over here looking to bicker and argue like a bunch of 12 years olds. I respect the fact that this is a UVA board and most of you guys can not stand most things that are VT. But if you cant look past the screen name long enough to have a friendly conversation that is kind of pathetic.

I have seen a few of you guys on the VTSCOOP side and most have been informative and nice change of pace to talk to. Good day fellas

@vtfan_90. I don't think anyone has a problem with fans from other programs posting comments or opinions, as we have had plenty from other schools on here from time to time. Its when certain people come on here talking trash, inciting negative responses, then running back to the VT forums to brag is when this gets old. How many flamers have you all had from the UVA site posting or coming to the VT forum talking trash?

That's kind of my point -- We DON'T have to play nice with Hokies on this board. We don't like something they have to say, we put 'em in check. It's really as simple as that.

I personally think that vtfan 90 has (so far) proven his worth, and I actually like having him here from time to time. GDubyaHokie has also been decent, and though he got a bit smarmy last night, Jamie cleaned it up quickly. I'm not generally a fan of HNB dating back to the site on Rivals, but even he is capable of being a non-douche from time to time.

The bottom line is that if we bitch and moan about them being here, we only serve to reinforce their negative stereotype of us. If we engage them in earnest and fair discourse - and hammer them into place when they need/deserve it - then we rise above the nonsense drivel of 95% of their fanbase and we serve to reinforce our own positive self-image. We can prove that we are better than they are... by being better than they are.

When your brother walks up and slaps you in the face, what do you do? Run and tell Mommy, or punch him in the beak? I'm ready to start feeding these Turkeys the anonymous internet message board equivalent of a knuckle sandwich. But only if they slap me in the face. If they're here and being cool, then why can't we just get along? Some posters on this board (not necessarily me) somewhat enjoy the difference of opinion they might bring to the board. You know, the whole "embracing diversity" thing.

For example, I'll enjoy hearing what vtfan 90 has to say about Tech's upcoming coaching search.

Most Hokies are UNC and Duke basketball fans. Nobody would argue that. As for the firing of Uncle Fester, I thought your AD did him dirty. How do you call a press conference before you tell the coach that he is being canned? Before UVA fired Al Groh, he knew he was gone long before the press conference. I didn't like Seth but he didn't deserve going out that way. No coach does.

Believe me, it will get there. If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that "every fan base has its share of idiots" excuse I would be filthy rich, matter of fact make that a penny and I still could retire before 40. I also guess you agree that Coach London is a fake, a fraud, and a racist?

I was hoping there was an option to turn it on permanently....

I live in Blacksburg. I hear what some of these fans are saying about London and it is disgraceful. However, it puts a smile on my face when I hear these guys complain constantly about London. If there was nothing to fear, there would be no attention placed on London. The Hokies talk about London as much as they talk about Beamer. That means London is doing his job and doing it well. If they wasn't giving him any attention, I would be worried.

But let's be clear, this is a UVa-centric site. My loyalty is to those that subscribe to this site. Keeping one or two problems doesn't help if it means losing 30.

I can have the national office make the change to only subscribers of this site being able to post.
