    Hah! Thanks for the update. This is certainly a much different team from last year, though I always believe our baseball team will battle to the end. And on the other end, I don't think I would want us to travel to Columbia and face y'all again. Too much! It was heartbreaking last year, and I'd rather not have to go through a top SEC school to get to the CWS biggrin Let's save the date for Omaha instead, deal?

  • Seems like "the powers that be" like getting these two schools together on the diamond if they can . If it happens, I will make sure that I have plenty of BP pills ready !

  • I'm not sure how good USC is this year but UVA doesn't have the pitching (particularly the bull pen) that we did last year. One of our best pitchers is out for the year and several times this year, we've headed into the 9th with the lead only to relinquish it at the end. We're still a solid team but I don't think we are CWS material unless we get some breaks. Lord knows we are due some breaks after what has happened to us in Omaha in 09 and 11.

    We were very young to start the season, and lost most of the starting lineup. I think we started SEC play 1-5. Since that point, those kids have really grown up. I think we won 12 out of 15 conference games down the stretch. One thing that I like is that the team has kept the fun and looseness they had last year. I think they are fun to watch.

    My cousin married into the Hoo family a few weekends ago. I think his wife works in admissions (or something like that) at UVA.

    The bullpen did go 32 consecutive ACC innings without yielding an earned run. That's not too shabby. If anything, our starting pitching is definitely not what it was last year. The bullpen woes are greatly overblown. We're missing Shane Halley desperately right now. If the starters can give you 5, Shane 2, Crock 1, I'm more than fine with Thompson pitching the 9th. Just ask Miami how they liked facing him.
