Offensive Improvement Y/Y

  • Compared to last year the play of both offensive squads was light years better. While we should expect Improvement with two letterman at QB, the receivers were stout, TE play was excellent, and all 4 running backs looked good. I think this team will put some points on the board. Again, I was very impressed with Watford and his command if the offense. Having two very capable QBs is a tremendous advantage over a long season. Great day in Cville!

  • Rocco also shined today and further established his place as the clear starter.

  • Totally agree, Rocco looked very crisp, especially as he got more reps. Not implying at all that he is not the go-to guy for 2012. Terrell looked exceptional all day...I think he and McGee could have big years ahead.

  • Nicholson looked good Fielding punts and Dominique continued to struggle in that position.

Never coached football, but personally I would def. have DT continue to practice fielding punts until it just becomes second nature, if Tra, PJ, etc. have too, I dont care. Personally, with the way DT played today at WR, I would continue to let his confidence grow in that dept. until he can manage both without a let down, although I know that he is not the type of kid now to let his head hang ( especially with his teammates and coaches), last year obviously being a freshman he got that out of the way. Great day for DT, love McGee, been a huge fan of his since HS, and this is only the beginning.

What I am happy about is that the offense should be able to put points up, control clock, and get first downs early in the year while allowing the young defensive players assembled to get their kinks out and gel as a unit. This offensive unit is going to be fun to watch this fall.

I thought Tre looked good fielding punts too. Terrell is such a good athlete I think we continue to give him reps. I like Jennings back there too. Thought he had a good day as well receiving.

You are right the offense looked on point. The D looked young but that was to be expected.

  • This offense is gona score alot of points this year for sure. The year after it should be unstopable with alost everyone coming back in 2013. It would be nice to have a 1000 yd rusher again but with all the talent I dont see that happening this year. PJ will have over 1000 yds total again this year like last year but itl be real tough to get any of them over 1000 on the ground.
