Our Cavaliers had a golden opportunity to steal one on Saturday despite all the mistakes - which were just too much to overcome in the end. Follow my link for the full recap.
Good write up and I enjoy this section. One issue I have that I notice a lot on this website is our excuse that we are, as you put it, "devoid of talent at key positions." I see it quite often that we have no talent or inferior talent all over the field which is the reason we are losing games. Look I completely agree that our talent is not what it used to be and the next two recruiting classes are vast improvements, however from a recruiting standpoint we have not had a lower ranked recruiting class then Southern Miss in the past 5 years. Same can be said compared to teams like Duke. While we are no where near having the talent that teams like FSU and Clemson have we absolutely have the talent AND depth to stick with even a good CUSA team. I did not see a team that was athletically inferior this weekend and when we wanted to we had our way moving the ball. Could/should we improve our talent level that has certainly taken a step back in recent years? Sure. But to say we are talentless is a fallacy especially facing a team from a mid major conference. In games like this its not about the talent, its about what you do with the talent you have...
I don't think we are talentess at all. I do think, however, we are devoid of talent at certain key positions on the defensive side of the ball - as I conveyed in my article. Our safeties are just flat out not good. We do not have another rush end to compliment Cam and our defensive tackles were not built for the 4-3. Most importantly, we lack speed at the MLB spot. Moving to a new defense, these are peices that will take a while to accumulate through recruiting and then acclimate to the field. Overall, Virginia has plenty of talent - it's just the holes where we do not are at key positions.

So we all know the d-line has put little push and pressure on the QB.. so that brings up the question, why aren't David Dean and Croce playing? Just a thought...
I thought Dean was one of the guys who was going to play this year as well. I'd also like to know why we aren't seeing much more of Justin Renfrow. He looked fantastic against W&M, but has seen really limited playing time in the last 3 games.
