GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP & ACSMA) - Clemson, Florida State and North Carolina dominate the 2012 All-ACC Football first team.

The league announced its all-conference team Monday and six offensive players from the 15th-ranked Tigers made the first team. The 13th-ranked Seminoles and Tar Heels had five players apiece.

The teams were determined by a vote of 46 members of the Atlantic Coast Sports Media Association.

Quarterback Tajh Boyd, running back Andre Ellington and receiver DeAndre Hopkins were Clemson's skill players on the first team. They were joined by tackle Brandon Thomas, center Dalton Freeman and tight end Brandon Ford.

Boyd led the ACC with 34 touchdown passes while Hopkins had league-bests of 16 total TD catches and an average of 104 yards receiving for the conference's best offense.

Nine teams had at least one first-team selection. There were no unanimous picks to the first team, but North Carolina running back Gio Bernard was chosen as a first-teamer on 45 ballots.

Bernard, who had an ACC-leading 1,228 yards rushing and 12 touchdowns on the ground, joins Boyd as repeat first-team selections.

Bernard, a punt returner who also was picked as the first-team specialist, was joined by guard Jonathan Cooper -- the Jacobs Blocking Trophy winner as the league's top offensive lineman -- plus linebacker Kevin Reddick and defensive tackle Sylvester Williams.

Four Florida State defensive players -- ends Bjoern Werner and Tank Carradine, cornerback Xavier Rhodes and safety Lamarcus Joyner -- join kicker Dustin Hopkins on the first team.

The Atlantic Division-champion Seminoles led the leage in all four major defensive stat categories, and Hopkins became the all-time NCAA career scoring leader among kickers this season and led the league with 58 extra points and 24 field goals.

Offensive guard Omoregie Uzzi was the only player from Georgia Tech on the first team. The Yellow Jackets will play Florida State on Saturday night in the Dr Pepper ACC Football Championship game. /p>

Boston College (receiver Alex Amidon and linebacker Nick Clancy), Virginia (offensive tackle Oday Aboushi and linebacker Steve Greer) and Duke (cornerback Ross Cockrell and punter Will Monday) were the only other schools with multiple first-team picks.

Aboushi and Greer Named First-Team All-ACC
McGee, Nicholson and Reynolds earn honorable mention nods

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia football players Oday Aboushi and Steve Greer were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) football first team, announced by the league on Monday. Jake McGee, Demetrious Nicholson and La’Roy Reynolds were named honorable mention selections. Virginia has had at least one first-team honoree every season since 2007 and in 25 of the last 26 seasons.

Aboushi (Brooklyn, N.Y.) earns his second All-ACC nod after the left tackle was a second-team All-ACC honoree in 2011. He also earned an early selection to the 2013 Senior Bowl roster, an honor as one of the top players in the country at his position. Aboushi graded out over 90 percent in all 12 games, including 97 percent against Miami and 94 percent against Penn State – UVa’s two come from behind victories that included game-winning TD drives in the closing minutes. He averaged 10+ knockdown blocks per game.

Greer (Solon, Ohio) is No. 2 in the ACC this year with 122 tackles and his 376 career tackles ranks No. 6 all-time at UVa. Greer ranks No. 1 among active ACC players in career tackles and Notre Dame’s Manti Te’o is the only active BCS player with more career tackles. Greer was twice named ACC Linebacker of the Week in 2012, following a 15-tackle performance against Penn State and a career-high 19-tackle game at Virginia Tech. Greer was named a second-team honoree in 2011 and an honorable-mention honoree in 2009.

McGee (Richmond, Va.) earned his first career nod after becoming the first UVa tight end to register at least five touchdown catches since Heath Miller in 2004. McGee boasted game-winning touchdown catches against Penn State (1:28 left) and Miami (:06 left).

Nicholson (Virginia Beach, Va.) tied for the ACC lead in pass breakups with 15. Nicholson was a key member of one of the nation’s youngest secondaries that also held the nation’s No. 1 offense (Louisiana Tech) to its lowest offensive output (385) of the season.

Reynolds (Norfolk, Va.) is No. 6 in the ACC with 90 tackles, despite missing 2.5 of UVa’s 12 games with an injury. Reynolds concluded his career with a career day at Virginia Tech, amassing 15 tackles. In the seven games after his return, Reynolds amassed 72 tackles, an average of 10.3 per game.

Interesting that vt didn't have a single first team player. Been awhile since that happened.

I couldn't be prouder of Oday... Who was the FIRST teammate on the field to help get our injured players off this past weekend.... Oday! I am sure it has been that way for a long time now.

He is everything that I would hope a Young Man representing UVa and our way of doing things uses Oday as an example.
