Experience with Auburn fans...

  • few were friendly, most were rude and obnoxious...

i purchased tickets through StubHub for 30 dollars less than what the university was selling them for, so i cant complain with the fact i was sitting with majority Auburn fans...

but the whole game i noticed and heard auburn fans mocking Virginia fans... if it wasnt for the typical "what the hell is a 'hoo'" to them swaying back and forth with their middle fingers in the air, to a few yelling out "yall are pathetic, go back to virginia"

to those that went to ATL for the game, what was your experience with the Auburn fans??

  • i had a bigger problem with the UVA fans heading for the exits in the 3rd quarter than i did any Auburn fans.

  • The Auburn fans I dealt with around town and the hotel were nice and good southern folks.....man their accent was something else.

The Auburn fan that came to Section 312 and got kicked out for trying to fight was a slug. Glad I didnt have to deal with them in the game in the non UVa sections though. Bet it was ugly down there.....

my friends and i stayed the whole game and a little after for the post game ceremonies. my friends were saying the same thing about the UVA fans leaving early.... but gotta understand it was NYE and at that point it was certain that UVA was NOT coming back. (there were less than 5,000 Auburn fans left at the end of the game)

  • I met a lot of great Auburn fans, had these nice ladies with tiger scarves and tiger ears ask me what our mascot was, they thought Cavman was cute and liked how we had Cavman ride in our stadium for home games. Honestly most of the Auburn fans that looked like they had actually attended the school were very friendly and nice but the "fans" of the school could get a little rude (but that's typical for most schools) anyway had a blast and had fun with everyone.

  • Great experiences with the Auburn fans. There was a tailgate of 40+ Auburn fans right next to ours and they were as friendly and hospitable as could be. We had Auburn fans sitting in front of us at the game and they were fine as well.

I remember going down in 98 to the game and they seemed to be good fans as well.

  • I thought they were good for the most part. The only negative I heard was a thirty something year old dude with bama bangs talking about how UVA was overrated as an academic school. I just laughed at him.

  • No issues with anyone, although somebody came to the area where Wilk hall had been set up, after everyone left for the game, and dumped trashbags and cans of garbage everywhere, including on cars. Don't know if it was Auburn fans or locals.

  • We had good experiences with the Auburn fans. We tailgated at Wilk Hall and met a few Auburn groups around there. They weren't crazy about us bringing up "Harvey Updike" though. All in all it was good time with the Tiger fans.

  • I enjoy Auburn fans for the most part. Its all about football for them, not personalities. You find that as you further south and the opposite as you go further north (WVA, VT, UMD for instance). The northern schools fans are similar to their NFL counterparts.

  • The Auburn fans I met around town and in my hotel were incredibly friendly and gracious. Our experience in the Georgia Dome was a bit less pleasant because my fiancee and I were surrounded by some rather unsavory Auburn fans. While nothing was spoken directly to us, drunk people tend to forget how loud they are speaking. They were numerous comments like those previously posted on here. "What the heck is a Hoo?" "They shouldn't even be on the same field as us." I expected that sort of stuff being that they are an SEC school, but I was really disappointed with the multiple comments that referenced the fact that I am in an interracial relationship.

My overall impression was that their fans were generally friendly but that they were quite a handful once they imbibed the sauce, which is probably an apt description of most fan bases.

Trim the fat off your soul.

  • They REALLY don't like it when you yell Roll Tide.

  • My experiences were the same as normal: some were nice and friendly, some were rude for no reason. I really didn't walk away with a particularly positive or negative impression of them.

One of the highlights of the trip for me was when a car of Auburn guys drove by us and yelled, "Weagle, weagle, War damn Eagle!" My wife turned to me and asked, "Did they really just say weagle?" You had to be there, but the way she asked was hilarious.

  • My only complaint from the trip was this "Virginia fan." While watching the parade and talking with an Auburn fan, this guy turns around (dress head to toe in Virginia swag) and says out of the blue, "Well, UVa would be a lot better if they quite singing that stupid "Good O' Song" it is so awful. My son isn't playing for Virginia if they keep singing that song." The Auburn fan and I looked at him as if he was crazy. I would have made a scene but I was with my mother.

However I did look over at his son (who didn't say a word) and gave him the "up down look." I glared at then both, then smirked at the kid because I knew that scrawny kid wasn't going to play at Virginia anyway...weird! dramaqueen

Oh and I smiled and said..."good luck in the weight room."

  • Or when you ask them who they paid to come in this year ! I would not have said anything, but there were 3 guys setting in section 311 up behind us, younger guys, and they started trash talking to us early in the game, so it was on at that point. Got a little heated after as said those things back to them , they got pretty pissed actually .

  • I had a great experience with all of the Auburn fans I met days before the game and on game day. We were on the MARTA with a bunch coming to the pre-game activities and one ended up sitting in the UVA section during the game. They were all great to talk with and all of them were very friendly. After the game while on MARTA going back to our parking lot I got to meet a few more and they were all cool as well. Our group was talking on our way home about how nice they were.

Exactly. The SEC is so corrupt. I guess its just a coincidence that they dominate college football today with Oregon and Oklahoma State just happening to be good as well (the 100's of millions that T. Boone and Phil Knight pump into those programs I'm sure has nothing to do with it).

Auburn fans are pissed this season because they're not getting good ROI compared to last season.

  • All the ones I talked too at our hotel were pretty nice. Gave a lot of complements to our program and especially to Coach London. Before and after the game. Didn't really cross paths with any weird-o's but I'm sure they were there....they always are!! lol

    HappytheMan

  • Auburn fans were cordial, good people from my experience. Some good natured ribbing is all they dished out...no unsportsmanlike behavior. As I told everyone when I got back, I hope we play them again soon because of the experience I had with their fanbase.

  • They were the nicest group of fans that I have ever dealt with at a Bowl Game .Very friendly and they sure brought some Hot Babes with them .The only problem we had was with a drunk UVA fan who started cursing as soon as the game started and there were probably 10 young children near him .I don't know why some of the Parents didn't slug him.
