  • My stomach hurts. His response to crosshairs in that other thread nearly put me on the floor.

This guy is seriously pretty awesome - why would you want him to leave? I find him highly entertaining.

Let's get a list going on things we know about cvillenomo:

    1) He's an insider - stated earlier that Trey Edmunds is locked into VT.
    2) He's a recruiting guru - knows every player's ranking across all 4 major recruiting sites off the top of his head. Stars and the number - WOW!
    3) He's a film room nut - you literally have to drag him out of there. I mean, he knows that both Miles-Redmond AND Win Homer won't get any early playing time. How does he know that? Oh my god - AMAZING!
    4) Last one for me - taking a more serious tone here, because it's actually kind of sad. His self-esteem is directly correlated with VT football.

I generally don't enjoy picking on people - but make exceptions for relentlessly proud Hokies who live and die defending their above-average football team.

  • I am okay having a 247-jester on the board, but idiotic (c)Hokie fans blinded by their loyalty and grounded only in VT football success are a dime a dozen. We can get a more entertaining jester than Nomo, though in his defense he unwittingly walks into so many hornet's nests, he is mildly amusing at times.

I agree with wahoomikey. I don't want this board to be anything like the sabre. If it does, I will leave. That simple. I believe most of the folks on here are open-minded to other's opinions without being malicious. I know there are those who post on both boards but I do believe that the 247 Board has a much more friendlier atmosphere with more knowledge and information being exchanged. It is highly addictive and worth every penny. However, I don't think we have been that hard on Cvillenomo. Most of us will agree that he has placed himself in the position he is in.

What's certain is that you know very little.

    I didn't call Edmunds a lock.

I would bet my pension that neither lineman is college "game ready," and won't see ANY action til they are rs-Sophmores. VERY FEW offensive linemen see the field earlier than that, and NONE that have mid-level technique and tip the scales 265lbs. If he was "game ready" he'd have offers from every school east of the Mississippi. That's no disrespect to crosshairs, and his 1st hand knowledge of the player, that's just how it is. I know who crosshairs is and why you guys keep kissing up...My opinion is simply different than his and it would have been my opinion whether Redmund committed to UVA, VT, or NC State. You guys can try to take me out of context or paint me as adversarial to crosshairs to score points if you want to, but he's smarter than that.

I'm glad you're here to straighten out Crosshairs and the rest of us. I'm sure he needs you to look out for him.

The fact that his unbiased opinion on a recruit happens to agree with us, and we are happy to hear it, and that he cut you to pieces with a very short, simple line, and we enjoyed it, are undeniable.

However else you want to interpret it or spin it is up to you but I suspect he's smart enough to figure things out for himself. You came with a weak and uninformed argument and now you're floundering in the water all by yourself.

You may want to demonstrate unusually good sense for a hokie and simply back down while you're getting crushed.

Did you go back and pop in your Hermitage game tape to come up with the mid-level technique assessment? A film rat right here - I'm telling you!

Your post - again - is not true. I can name several Hoos off the top of my head that didn't have "offers from every school east of the Mississippi" but got major burn as true freshmen or sophomores.

D'Brickishaw Ferguson - heard of him? 3-star from Strong Island, NY that had maybe 3 offers.
Branden Albert - 2 Star coming out of high school - pretty sure we were his only offer.
Austin Pasztor - 2-star with 1 or 2 offers before spending a year at FUMA. An All-ACC candidate next year.
Oday Aboushi - highly touted but didn't have more than 5 or 6 offers. Got time as a true freshmen, full-time starter in 2nd year.
Elton Brown - didn't set the world on fire with his offer list. Pretty sure Big E was a full time starter by his 2nd year in the program (thinking sooner tho). In case you don't remember him - played in the league and drafted in the 4th round.

Hopefully - you get the point.

So - mid-level technique and only 265 right now. You realize he is maybe 16 years old and has an entire year before he steps foot on a college campus, right? I'm not saying he will or won't get time early on - I'm not a film rat like you - I'm just saying that I think you're full of sh*t.

  • Czhoo - I agree complelely.

However in this case, the poster is doing a superb job of proving what vpi is: a completely marginal school that produces mediocrity (that's being generous in this case) that is so average that its students fly like moths to the one area where they excel: college football.

Inm the context of who is on this board, that lesson can't be taught enough, imo. And so I thank this poster for teaching it again and again.

D'Brick started as a first year at 260 lbs. Once again, you're wrong.

Gosh, you're just too easy, brah!

Lets not get too high and mighty here, the Sabre is great, certainly there is more leeway on a FREE site but there is plenty good back and forth that isn't childish banter and the fellas that run it are as cool and decent as they come. I understand the point but feel better adding my 2 cent, Sabre is OK by me.

I do not believe it is constructive for posters on one UVA site to knock another UVA site. All of the three primary UVA sites are run by good folks who want to serve their customers (us) and provide a value for the money. I find merit in each.

Let's save our shots for the hokies, terps, and other rabble.

You sort of got lost some where, didn't you? The original point was about who was the best offensive lineman prospect in the state. You stated the best OL prospect wasn't headed to UVA.

Well one thing for certain has been established, the best OL in the state isn't going to VPI. Second, the opinion of the UVA fans on the board who have spoken up so far is that the best prospect just committed to UVA. Third, an unbiased opinion from a high school coach agrees with the UVA fans on this point. As far as the statement about AMR being game ready, I believe all of us who weren't looking for some reason to fight understood exactly what he meant in that AMR is more advanced and more athletic and closer to being ready than the other prospect. The OL that is truly ready to play from day one is relatively rare due to the difference in HS and college strength and conditioning programs.

    Now THAT is all.
