I know last night's result was disappointing, our guys played their hearts out. I love this team and since I've been watching UVA basketball (about 20 years), I have to say this team is my favorite. Some people are starting to write this team off but I think they've got one more good run in them. Whether we get to the NCAAT through the regular season or by winning the ACCT, I believe this team will find a way. I hope these guys don't take this loss too hard because as Coach Bennett said last night, "There's a lot of basketball to be played". The good news is that almost everybody comes back next year. Coach Bennett has made a believer out of me. Heart and determination can go a long way in controlling your destiny. What a special team we have in Charlottesville that has made us relevant in the conference again and one we all can be proud of.
Definitely agree. If we can get Tobey back soon and close to 100% by ACC tourney time, I think we could make a big run in tourney. But the key is to keep everybody else healthy. We can not afford anymore injuries. I love this team as well. I am definitely not writing this team off yet. Still plenty of time to go. And I know GT is priority right now but I have a really good feeling we beat Dook.
This year I was just hoping to make the NIT. If you think about it, this team should not be that good on paper. 3 upperclassmen and all lightly recruited players. Our best freshman from last year is out for the year and the other 2 sophomores had somewhat decent freshman campaigns at best (1 redshirted for half the year). Also, a group of 5 freshmen , while all fairly highly regarded, are freshmen. What this team has done is flat out incredible. They play their asses off on defense and have turned into an efficient offensive team. If we had Tobey and a 100% Atkins, we probably would have beaten the #2 team in the nation at their place. Joe Harris is a warrior, Mitchell is probably the most improved player in the ACC, the freshmen mesh so well. I am more than ecstatic for the future even if we make the NIT.
Agree. Plumlee looked useless against Len. Not saying we have that, but we have been able to handle bigger guys. As long as Kelly is still out I think we can do it.
