Virginia to Compete in Corpus Christi Challenge Next Season
Texas A&M, Missouri State and SMU among the eight teams in 2013-14 tournament
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – The University of Virginia men’s basketball team will compete in the 2013 Corpus Christi Challenge, it was announced Monday by the Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The tournament format includes four games for each team with two games held at campus sites and two games held at the American Bank Center Arena.
Virginia joins Texas A&M, SMU, Missouri State, Hampton, Liberty, Sam Houston State and Arkansas Pine Bluff in the inaugural eight-team field that will conclude play Nov. 29-30 during Thanksgiving weekend in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Seems like a pretty weak tournament considering our potential for next season. Need to build up that SOS, Tony.
Agreed! Was hoping for Atlantis!
I must break you!
Huge let down, but we'll probably wind up in the fifth place game with Arkansas Pines Bluff like we do every other year in these preseason tournaments
Miracle Max: Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said! He distinctly said "to blave." And, as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff," huh? So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated—
Wow tht tournament suck. If we dnt win tht than it goin to b a long year. Why would they accept tht offer.i bet these games wont b on national tv
On the bright side, if you love to fish you can't beat Corpus in the fall. You'd catch so many speckled trout, redfish, flounder, and mangrove snapper that your arms will fall off.
We played in one of the most prestigious preseason tourneys this year and it didn't exactly result in a great SOS either. A&M's not a shabby team.
Corpus Christi is one of my favorite places on earth. But we have to get to a game against Texas A&M for this tourney to not be a complete SOS bust.
Next year the ACC is going to be brutal. Lots of talent coming into the league, Syracuse and Pitt are coming, and we have more ACC games on our schedule. I have no problem with having some tune up games before we get into it.
These games are not about national tv. They are designed to still give some time for a young team to continue to develope. And, gain confidence.
