Heading into the game I thought Anderson would be the key to UVA's chances of winning since his remarkable athleticism and versatility was our best bet to compensate for our lack of available healthy tall bodies.
He really came through. I think he's key for us down this last stretch. Before he came down with Mono, I thought it was going to be Tobey but Justin will have to be that guy that gives us that spark to support Joe.
And, btw, Joe is really strapped on the harness for this team, hasn't he?
A little before my time, but when I saw him guarding Len, I thought about Magic playing the 5 in the championship game.
I agree G, Anderson is going to be the key, and he looks up to the task. Man, this kid is going to be fun to watch in the next few years, we haven't had a player in recent memory that brings this much excitement, athleticism, and maybe overall talent in a long time IMO.
I know he is listed as out indefinitely but is there any sort of time frame on how long Tobey will be out?
I had mono when I was 18 and never missed a day of school or work... Now I know that's not full court acc hoops, but I'd expect to see him back after the vt game unless he has spleen issues which is pretty rare I think
Reminds a little of lebron with his size and versatility... Both can and have played all 5 positions
I am no doctor, but it seems like from past cases with athletes and contact sports, it's about a month on the sidelines.
Justin may have almost been too aggressive looking for his shot at times today, but I'll take that any day over the passive player he was just a few weeks ago. He's taking his chances and will come to learn pretty quickly when to take the shot and when to reset - very quickly if his growth so far this year is any indication. And if he can play as well in a bit more control than he was today he may end up one of the best wings in the league by the end of the year.
No doubt. Also, loved the way he went up to block that near dunk so aggresively. He landed hard on the floor too but bounced right back up.
"We don't talk about winning championships, we talk about being champions."
But I thought Maryland doesn't lose to teams like Virginia?
Now THIS is what we've been waiting for. I hope this game now gives the young man the confidence he appeared to need. When we have JP, Harris, and Nolte ALL hitting the 3 ball...we're going to be an awfully tough out for anyone.
