Dempsey buries one at the 55:30 mark to put the U.S. up 1-0. This would be a HUGE win for Klinnsman and the U.S. squad!
Trim the fat off your soul.
U.S. wins 1-0!!!! HUGE HUGE HUGE WIN!!! It's the first time the U.S. has beaten Italy in 82 years!
We were due.
Dempsey is playing at a level right now no American has ever experienced, would be nice if he wound up in the spurs!

Don't forget about Bradley's performance today...class
After 82 years, I'd say so.
That Boy Clint Dempsey
He scores from the left...he scores from the right...
Bradley and Edu were great in the midfield. I think that might have been the best match I've ever seen Edu play to be honest. Fabian Johnson just makes something happen everytime he plays; he setup the goal when crossing in to Jozy who laid it off for Dempsey.
I havent even seen the highlights yet, just this thread, but I just jumped off the sofa....so excited for the US team...I saw on way home from work it was 0-0....so proud for them....cant wait to see the highlights!!!
Thanks for the heads up. I enjoyed the last 30 minutes. Great win!
The US needs more skilled players that don't take sh*t, like Clint Dempsey. He breaks the stereotypes of soccer. He's a goon.
No talk about how improved the back line is...thats the 2nd greatest thing about this game IMO...
Just finished watching the game and you're spot on crd. No coincidence that we look much better with Bradley playing instead of Beckerman. Didn't get Jurgens initial reluctance to play MB.
Bocanegra had more saves than Howard at the end. While he might have created a few too many corners for Italy, Carlos was a big key to the W.
The main reason MB didn't play for a while was because he wasn't getting much playing time at the club level (which is what Klinnsman demands) before moving to Chievo... But yeah, I would take a rusty Michael Bradley any day over Kyle Beckerman and his ridiculous hair.... We could use a dangerous striker in the worst way. Hopefully one emerges over the next couple of years before Brazil (maybe Boyd will be ready by then?).
Won the last 4 games and we havent even seen Donovan and Dempsey on the field together. It seems like Klinnsman is starting to get this thing moving. PLUS our U-23's took down Mexico last night which is always a good thing. Caleb Porter is using a 4-3-3 with them and probably a sign of things to come down the road.
Not to dump cold water, this result is ab as insightful as a pre season baseball game.
I don't agree. Italy did not even give up a goal at home in qualifying fro the Euros, this was a significant test and shows the boys that we can compete with the best. It was a very historical win.
FWIW the USA U-23 team beat Mexico 2-0 in a game that the US dominated.
And the US women won 5-0 over Denmark.
Good Day for US soccer
Bradley is playing great right now.
The US looked great until they went into clock kill mode, time with Klinsmann is paying off now. I hope they keep getting better.
The young buck was impressive looking physically (18?) but he also looked like the moment got the best of him, he was gassed and likely because he was overwelmed.
Italy is not very good right now. And their players could care less about a game like this. That is the point. The game meant nothing to them as most friendlies do. There can never be anything historic in a friendly.
Speaking of meaningless games, didn't we beat Spain in some tourney a few years ago? That data point is equally useful as this.
