Can anyone explain the defensive delay of game call in the 4th Qtr? Also the block in the back call that was so critical that led to a first down for Wake?
Heres a video of the block in the back courtesy of Michael Phillips of the rtd. Why coley thinks shoving a guy with his back to him is a good idea is beyond me. I swear (I'm probably exaggerating but Idc) every game there is a block in the back on a punt return that has NO bearing on the play AT ALL. It is beyond frustrating watching thIs every game. Sorry for the rant but my girl friend can't take me saying the same thing to her every week so you guys get my venting
I think the rule is related to mimicking the snap count by the defense. Not the best wording for the penalty but I think that's what the rule is.
Thanks. That was a very bad play and I didn't see it live. As far as the delay of game it's as I thought, just wanted verification. Thanks.
I honestly think that block in the back shouldn't be a penalty just because what is the Wake guy even doing facing that direction anyway?
True, but still a stupid thing to do.. Never hit anyone from behind. Play of the game.
That was obviously after the kick. Why was the penalty applied to the before the snap spot instead of after the play, making it 1st and 10, our ball, at our 10?
I was wondering the same thing at the game but maybe it's because it was behind the line of scrimmage?

The penalty was on Wake Forest yesterday, not UVa, dude. So, no, it's not "100 % on London."
The official made it a point to distinguish the block in the back as happening behind the line of scrimmage. I haven't been able to find anything that clarifies how the penalty is assessed when the infraction occurs behind the line vs. elsewhere, but the ref definitely made that distinction during the on-field call.
Sorry, I got that penalty mixed up with the formation penalty.
Ha! JML my wife hates me during the games as well as a few days after a frickin loss!
That's the way I heard it explained too. And that video shows it well after the kick. But refs giving us the short end of he stick sure isn't anything new!! Should have been our ball at the 10.
