...For having a loaded gun in his carry on bag at an airport. How stupid is this guy?
A Tampa Bay Buccaneers player was arrested at LaGuardia Airport Monday morning after police discovered he was illegally carrying a handgun, authorities said. Da'Quan Bowers, a defensive end for the...

"Just gotta keep balling out"
Almost as bad as carrying marijuana in a fake waterbottle in an airport POST 9/11....
It takes a special kind of idiot to get caught at an airport with a loaded gun.
I heard he actually turned himself in at the airport counter and asked how he should handle the matter (to get the gun home). To reward his forthright disclosure, he was promptly arrested. Not defending his stupidity for bringing a gun to the airport, but he did try to handle it somewhat responsibly once he realized his full predicament.
Heard the same thing on ESPN. I suppose the cops did what they had to do and not the judge gets to do his job.
Still one of my favorite pictures ever!
Not to start a political debate, but if what is being reported is true, than this is more proof that stricter gun laws are NOT the answer. He might've made a dumbass mistake, but he tried to rectify it. Now, he is being sent through the system for this mistake. And, if you think he deserves this, what about the lady in this attached story?
When he realized he was carrying a gun he should have turned around, called someone to pick him up, returned home, missed his flight and came back to the airport clean. Do not expect any gov't thugs to handle something for you, handle it on your own before they get involved 100 times out of 100.
Agreed.... he should have removed himself from the airport.
How dumb are you to forget you have a handgun in the first place?!?
"What a beautiful day to travel... toothpaste, check; deoderant, check; Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range, check; Uzi nine millimeter, CHECK. Alright kids lets get to the airport." - Arnold Schwarzenegger
I don't think he deserved it. -If- the story is true that he was just trying to do the right thing and get advise on how to handle the situation.
I'd agree with Corey that he should have turned around and given the gun to someone else...but in doing that he would have committed a bigger crime and likely so would the person he gave the gun to...I think? He was legal in NC, but not in NY. In giving the gun to an unregistered person in NY he likely would have been doing worse that what he did do....My only point is that the judge has the authority to make this right...I don't think any other authority did.
Doing the right thing can suck
One day a Hokie athlete will try that option, until then there is always Jimmy Turk.
He should have taken the gun home himself, at the very least given it to someone trustworthy outside of airport property. If he does that, he's not on the Internet looking like a dummy.
I travel a lot and don't know how a handgun makes it in your luggage, going thru airports is serious enough to know what's in your bag.
