UCLA beat UNC 4-1. UCLA only allowed three runs in their three CWS games to date. Looks like it will be UCLA's pitching against MSU's bats.
Mississippi State is a really mature team. They seem to have peaked perfectly. Good balance of strong hitting and pitching. They look like the stronger team.
Just like I thought, UCLA would cruise to a win. I was wrong for one game at least. I never gave it a lot of thought as things were lopsided with the Bulldogs and the Wahoos, but Mississippi State has some random brain lapses on defense. Put netting in front of the dugouts at Davenport and Virginia might have tied Game 2 on that last error.
This is the first game, however, that Miss State looked lost at the plate. The pitching was solid, but it was not Hultzen or Rodon on the mound. It was more of a Michael Roth performance (South Carolina) and some solid bullpen action afterwards. Fun game to watch and fun to hear Orel complain that the walls are too deep. Somebody told an ex-pitcher to say that. Ha. This UCLA team does remind me of the 2009 Virginia team that played at the homer-friendly Rosenblatt
What happened to Mississippi State's pitching and hitting? UCLA has scored better against them than any other team they have faced in the CWS. Eight runs might be the most UCLA has scored in a single game all year.
Relieved those Mississippi State assbags didn't get the national championship. Hate those fans.
yeah ...well...congrats to UCLA anyway!!
