Clemson seems to live in a dream world where Danny Ford is still head coach, Homer Jordan is taking snaps and Elden Campbell/Dale Davis and Tree Rollins are ruling the paint.
They've had one year of relatively significant football in the last 20 and even that one ended in complete humiliation.
All this expansion talk from arguably the worst two academic schools in the league just solidifies the fact that some schools have completely lost touch with what college athletics is about.......young adults. If this happens across multiple leagues, we might as well start paying the student athletes salaries and just go ahead and drop the "student" part altogether. Because when you're missing two full days of class or getting 4 hours of sleep to go play a soccer game in Lubbock, Texas, it's pretty clear that your university cares nothing about the academic portion of why you're there. "Oh so you're failing 4 classes because you're never there, well here are some football tickets for Saturday's game. Go sit in the new hot tub we just paid for with our new TV money and then head on over to the stadium and Joe Donor will give you a hundred dollar handshake to make you feel better about why you're here." It's really pretty disgusting when you think about it.
End of "academic elitist" rant.
My dream conference, for what it's worth:
Drop BC and Wake like bad habits
Pick up Vandy, Notre Dame, Navy for football, and Penn State.
Now THAT would be awesome. If only.....
