Very excited about the Banks hire for Special Teams. He comes with an impressive Special Teams resume. Although, I do have a little hesitation about him from the RB position coach stand point. RB is a very deep, valuable position for our offense. I have not been a big fan of the way Lazor has used our running game during stretches of his tenure at UVA. Faragalli expressed some concern about how the RBs were used on his way out. Just hope we have a RB coach who can fight for the players at that position to ensure the OC maximizes their collective talents. Special Teams is very important and I sense it will be Banks' top priority out of the gate, but so is the rushing attack as we are at our most effective on offense when it is optimized.

I know the backs weren't really happy with the play calling and I don't believe Farangalli was happy at the number of carries for CF after they decided not to RS the young man.

Clifton can expect to get more carries when he learns the playbook. Considering that he's halfway through his college career, the clock is ticking ...

We have a number of very talented RBs on the roster and another one arriving next summer. With this level of talent, there should be a strong emphasis on establishing the run, using the RBs in isolated situations and/or in space with the passing attack, and giving this group more opportunities to make plays. IMHO, Lazor wants to work the wide outs a bit too much for my taste and others at the expense of focusing on the play makers at RB. We have enough depth at RB that should be capitalized upon with creative play calling. With the talent we possess at RB, the #1 priority is to shore up the OL, and use the run to open up the passing game, especially when we have a kid like McGee to use to flood the under zones.
