Offensive line starting to gel

My silence is more related to my inability to form a accurate opinion about our OL. They are a conundrum to me.

I can't reconcile the following:

1) We're supposed to have two of the best tackles in the nation.
2) We can't pass protect on the edges
3) The interior line is weak and can't run up the middle
4) We were supposed to have a lot of depth at OG entering the season
5) Where's Kelby Johnson? He seemed on a great path playing last year as a true freshman
6) We can't make 4th and 1?
7) Will a better vertical passing game make all our OL woes immediately better?

Is our line going to be good or really bad next year? For the life of me, I can't figure it out...hence my prior silence.

My big question is to what extent the ostensible improvements on the line have been tied to 1) a reduction in the strength of opposing defenses (at least with La. Tech, whose defense is probably worse than Richmond's) and 2) a revised strategy in the running game (since we seem to be going outside more). By no means will I argue with statistical facts -- in other words, I agree that the numbers are better in the last two games -- but I worry that there are more factors at play than sheer "gelling" on the line. London's comments on OL shakeups would seem to indicate that the last two weeks have still been less than satisfactory from a grading/evaluation/execution standpoint.

It funny how evrythng is startin to come together. We got sims starting. O line is comin together. I mus say i did not thnk it was a strength readin how wach was disappointed in thm during spring ball and summer practice. I read stories how he was screamin out his mind. Back to comin together. Our runninbacks are findin their mojo and we realize gamble is not a gamble and shld play ahead of terrell or smith. Tim smith has been a big disappointment for me.
