Great story Jay!
I'm curious though, wasn't Kelvin a relatively low 3 star? If I remember correctly we were his only major offer? Not doubting your evaluation but for him to be one of the most talented players of the 2012 class is high praise. Could you elaborate on your view of his talent?

It is my belief that the success of the 2012 class will not be defined by the biggest names, like Eli, Kwontie, Mike Moore, etc., but by the three star guys like Kelvin Rainey, Maurice Canady, Divante Walker, CJ Moore and Demetri Brim. We need several of the lessor known guys to be breakout players for us.
The ability to find the talent among the guys who aren't being recruited by Alabama and Southern Cal and develop that talent will be the key to how far we go.

My favorite line from a boss at USA Today was: "What are you laughing AT?" ... lol. He was laughing at me this time. Sorry guys. ...
Rainey impressed me in our talks weeks ago and the CB has always been a major player moving forward at a position that Virginia has seen JUST three players drafted at in a decade (four if Chase had seen a brighter fortune).

I have to believe we will have one or two frosh in the secondary reserves depending upon the mix at corner and safety.

Jay, I LOVE your articles about some of these out-of-state players..really good to hear from them, especially since we rarely talk about them unless they are 4-star plus. I have to admit I know very little about Rainey, but am excited for his arrival. I hope the Texas schools overlooked him!
