Blue Chip Challenge Preview

On Sunday, The 757 Sports Academy and The Chesapeake Bowl selection committee will host the 1st Annual Blue Chip Challenge at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex.

An impressive field is expected to attend the camp, which will run from 2pm until 7pm with registration beginning at 1:30pm.

The nation's No. 2 prospect according to the 247Composite, Woodbridge (Va.) five-star defensive end Da'Shawn Hand highlights an impressive nationally-touted group of defensive linemen.

This group also features the nation's No. 1 defensive tackle, Chesapeake (Va.) Oscar Smith five-star Andrew Brown as well as the No. 4 weak-side defensive end in the country, Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor four-star Jalyn Holmes and the No. 9 defensive tackle in the nation, Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes four-star Derrick Nnadi.

Adding to the defensive firepower at the event is the nation's top safety, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bayside five-star Quin Blanding, who is committed to Virginia.

Blanding will face the state's top receiver, Virginia Beach (Va.) Bishop Sullivan four-star Jamil Kamara, in one-on-ones and in 7-on-7 action. Kamara is ranked as the No. 8 athlete in the country according to the 247Composite.

Anchoring the offensive line in the Blue Chip Challenge will be Fredericksburg (Va.) Chancellor four-star offensive lineman Steven Moss, who is committed to Virginia. Moss will have the opportunity to go against the nation's elite defensive linemen in the event.

Other notable attendees expected from the 2014 class are Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson cornerback Greg Stroman, Midlothian (Va.) Cosby defensive tackle Tyler Powell, Virginia Beach (Va.) Princess Anne linebacker Aaron Glover, Norfolk (Va.) Lake Taylor cornerback Aaron Chandler, and Woodbridge (Va.) athlete Marcus Boone among others.

The 2015 class will be well-represented as well. Players expected to attend are Richmond (Va.) St. Christopher's linebacker Ricky DeBerry, who boasts more than 25 offers already as well as teammate, athlete Garrett Taylor, who currently holds 18 offers.

Virginia Beach (Va.) Ocean Lakes will have a pair of impressive rising juniors in attendance as well in linebacker Jahvoni Simmons, who has been offered by North Carolina, Virginia, and Virginia Tech, as well as wide receiver Jaason Lewis, who has been offered by the three schools mentioned above as well as Florida State, Tennessee, and Michigan among others.

Manassas (Va.) Stonewall Jackson defensive tackle Tim Settle is also expected to attend. Settle has been one of the hottest juniors in the state of late, reeling in offers from Wisconsin, Alabama, South Carolina, and Ohio State to go along with his previous offers from North Carolina, Old Dominion, and Virginia.
