On Sunday, Virginia landed a commitment from Richmond (Va.) Monacan linebacker Connor Wingo-Reeves. The newest UVa commit discussed the quick courtship and pledge.
"Coach Mike London called me today and offered me a scholarship," said Wingo-Reeves. "He told me that the staff likes me as a linebacker and they like me as a fullback."
Before the 6-foot-3, 220-pounder would give his pledge to the Cavaliers' head coach, he had some calls to make.
"I called Temple, because that's the school that I was committed to. I wanted to be closer to home and I wanted to represent my state. And Virginia is that perfect opportunity with a tremendous academic opportunity as well.
"After the call to Temple, I called Coach London back and committed. I'm a Wahoo!"
What's Wingo-Reeves feeling right now?
"I can't even begin to tell you. This all happened so quick. I'm so excited. It's a great feeling.
"I can't wait to take my official visit to UVa next weekend."
As a senior, Wingo-Reeves racked up 93 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 2 forced fumbles.
As tight end on offense, he hauled in 3 touchdowns.
